Access Permits

Land use, natural resources recovery, general utilities and development have impacts on County roads. The Road Access Policy in the Weld County Code recognizes that the efficiency and safety of County roads depend, to a large extent, upon minimizing roadside interference and its detrimental effect upon the movement of traffic.

Access Control Plans

Access Control Plans, also known as access management plans, supplement the regulations on access to county roads found in the County Code by analyzing the conditions specific to a particular road, the existing access on it, and alternative (side road) access.

How do I apply for an Access Permit?

Visit the E-Permit Center to complete the following Access Permit Application(PDF, 185KB).  Follow the instructions below when completing the application.

  1. Complete all components of the application.
  2. Include 4 photos taken at the Access point labeled N, S, E & W.
    -Looking down the roadway to the right of the access
    -Looking down the roadway to the left of the access
    -From the roadway into the access location
    -From the access looking across the roadway
    PLEASE NOTE: Google image photos will not be accepted. 
  3. Right-of-Way (ROW) Permit may be required.  A ROW permit may be required if the access is proposed to be paved and ties into a paved roadway.  The ROW permit requires a Certificate of Insurance and a typical Traffic Control Plan(PDF, 121KB).  If the Traffic Control Plan warranted exceeds the provided typical Traffic Control Plan, please include the expanded Traffic Control Plan with submittal.

A copy of the Issued Permit must be kept on the project site for review by Weld County Staff.
