To highlight the importance of energy in Weld County and the work of the oil and gas energy department (OGED), Weld County Government is debuting a new email newsletter: The Weld County Energy Line. To receive the newsletter, visit the county’s newsletter sign-up page, enter an email address and select “Weld County Energy Line.” The first issue will be released in April.

Designed to be an educational and informational resource, the bimonthly newsletter will promote the positive impact of energy on Weld County through informative features on a variety of different topics, including:

  • The relationship between agriculture and oil and gas.
  • The history of oil and gas development in Weld County.
  • Why/how the oil and gas industry is so critical to Weld County Government’s annual budget.
  • The county’s stance on legislation and participation in events that are important to the industry.

The Weld County Energy Line will also feature various aspects of the OGED, introducing readers to its employees and the role they have in serving as a conduit between residents and the industry. A frequently asked question section will provide answers to several commonly asked questions to help residents better understand different aspects of energy.

Weld is the state’s leading energy-producing county, consistently responsible for more than 80% of Colorado’s oil production and more than 50% of its natural gas production. The Weld County Energy Line will look beyond those numbers, highlighting what they mean to so many.

“We’re fortunate to have oil and gas in our county, but the positives the industry brings sometimes get lost in the headlines,” said Perry Buck Weld County Commissioner Chair. “There may be many people who may not know about the work of the OGED, and this newsletter will touch on that as well. We encourage everyone to sign up for the Weld County Energy Line.”
