The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently awarded Weld County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program $1,211,310.

“Thanks to the due diligence of CDBG program staff and local municipalities, Weld County low- to moderate-income residents are benefitting thanks to these funds,” said Weld County Commissioner Chair Kevin Ross. “We are excited to help facilitate these community improvements as they will elevate our county’s public and private infrastructure for years to come.”

In June 2020, the Weld County CDBG program was established after the county secured Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) with 25 of its municipalities to implement community improvement projects and allocate program funds accordingly. Since then, 20 projects have been selected for funding by the Board of County Commissioners. Currently, six projects are being completed:

  • Ault water line upgrade for businesses and residents in the east portion of town.
  • Friends of Firestone Day of Services expansion from one to two days.
  • Platteville public parks receiving accessible sidewalks and ramps.
  • Erie manufactured home park upgrades for ten single-family homes across three parks.
  • Replacing 36 ramps in Evans and 57 in Eaton with accessible ones.

This allocation of HUD funding to Weld County’s CDBG program will help fund projects and pay for CDBG administrative costs now to March 31, 2025.
