County to host first-ever State of the County event

The public is invited to join the Weld County Commissioners for the first-ever State of the County address. This event will provide residents with the latest updates on the initiatives Weld County Government is prioritizing. The event will take place at the Aims Community College Welcome Center, located at 4901 W. 20th St. in Greeley, on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 a.m.

The State of the County address aims to strengthen community ties and convey impactful information. Attendees will learn about various projects focused on serving Weld residents and businesses, collaborations with local municipalities, and participation in regional partnerships, all designed to best position Weld County for the future.

“This event will highlight the projects and initiatives the county is focused on as we undergo unprecedented growth in our area,” said commissioner chair Kevin Ross. “With growth comes challenges, and Weld County Government is ready and prepared to meet those challenges.” 

Under the theme “Commitment and Connection to the Future,” the State of the County will focus on three primary topics:  

  • Growth: The county is projected to double in population by 2050. Discover how Weld County is preparing to accommodate this growth.
  • Transportation: Increased growth requires a safe and efficient transportation system locally and regionally. Learn about the various infrastructure projects that Weld County has undertaken and has slated for the future.
  • Quality of Life: Weld County is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. The county offers numerous services designed to enhance public health and safety as well as many initiatives that promote a high quality of life for our residents.

This free, public event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with local officials as well as stay updated and informed on current initiatives and projects. A light breakfast will be provided so please RSVP by 5 p.m. on Oct. 15.
