Commissioners to host public meeting regarding PUDs

The Weld County community is invited to participate in a public meeting to discuss the future of Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) in the county. The meeting will take place on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the events room of the Weld County Administration Building, located at 1150 O St. in Greeley.

PUDs provide property owners and developers with alternative methods to develop land that does not meet the standard zone district criteria. Following feedback from residents during the first reading of the code change to amend Chapter 27, a public meeting was held in April to address concerns. Additionally, a follow-up meeting with municipal leaders was conducted.

As one of the nation's fastest-growing counties, Weld County's population is expected to exceed 600,000 by 2050, according to the state demographer's office. Meetings like this one are crucial in ensuring that future planning considers the diverse needs of urban and rural communities. This meeting marks another step in the public input process before the formal board vote in July.
