The Weld County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce Patrick O’Neill as the new Director of the Weld County Department of Facilities.

O’Neill, who previously served as the Director of Facilities and Fleet at Arapahoe County, was chosen for the position following a nationwide search.

“O’Neill was the perfect choice for this role as he has extensive knowledge of facilities management for a few decades now,” said Commissioner Chair Kevin Ross. “We know he will lead the facilities department well and is joining a great team of people.”

After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Wayne State University, O’Neill began his career with the university as the Facilities Manager in 1983. He then obtained a master’s degree in Education, Business Administration and Management from Wayne State before becoming a Physical Plant Foreman at the University of Denver for four years. In 2007, he became the Director of Facilities and Services at Front Range Community College. His most recent role as Arapahoe County’s Director of Facilities and Fleet, he was responsible for all aspects of facilities, a 1,100-vehicle fleet, and project management. O’Neill successfully planned and initiated a $46 million detention center renovation of the medical, kitchen and laundry areas.

“Joining Weld County was an easy decision considering the growth it’s expected to have in the next few decades, and I’m honored to help facilitate the infrastructure of the county moving forward,” O’Neill said. “I’m excited and look forward to joining the Weld County team.”
