The Building Trades Advisory Committee has an immediate need for two new members: a Weld County Home Builder and a Heating Contractor, who have a background in the construction industry or are building trades professionals.

The Building Trades Advisory Committee reviews proposed changes to Chapter 29 (Building Regulations) of the Weld County Code. The committee reviews complaints related to administration and enforcement of building code regulations and serves as a vital communication link between the county and the construction industry. The committee meets for two hours in April and in October.

The Workforce Development Board is seeking three residents to serve on the board: a person working in the private sector, and two business members. This is a business-led board, with most members representing the private sector, organized labor, educational and economic development organizations, state agencies, and community-based organizations demonstrating experience working with individuals with disabilities. The board identifies regional workforce needs, develops, and implements systems in response to those needs, and provides direction to Employment Services of Weld County. Each member needs to reside in Weld County. The board meets the bi-monthly.

Other boards and commissions in need of volunteers include the Extension Advisory Council, Human Services Advisory Commission, Noxious Weed Management Advisory Board, Weld County Building Code Board of Appeals, and Weld Faith Partnership Council.

“Advisory boards help us provide the best services daily to residents and businesses throughout the county,” Weld County Chair Kevin Ross said. “The work volunteers do helps us determine how our services can be of the greatest value.”

Each advisory board varies in its mission, but they consist of citizens who are relied on to provide expertise, knowledge and input to county commissioners and county departments on issues affecting various segments of the community. Board members also suggest ways that government services can be improved or best implemented to reach the most people and have the greatest impact. Additionally, those who serve can expect to grow both personally and professionally from the experience.

Applications are being accepted through Jan. 22, 2023. To learn more about these opportunities and apply, visit www.weld.gov/go/boardopenings.
