To recognize and honor the workforce development professionals who assist Weld County residents with finding and retaining employment, in parallel with supporting employers to attract the talent needed to meet their unique workforce needs, the Weld County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed September Workforce Development Month.

Employment Services of Weld County (ESWC) strives to support residents by connecting them with resources for employment, education, and training. ESWC also aids the other end of employment partnership by assisting local and regional employers, offering customized services designed to best support each employer in attracting the talent needed for their workforce. ESWC staff members provide a wide array of services for job seekers and employers alike by offering labor exchange, job referrals, skills assessments, career coaching, and access to various training programs.

Deputy Director of Human Services for Weld County, Tami Grant, was present for the proclamation reading at the board meeting on September 6, and spoke about the successes Weld County’s workforce development service workers have had. “Between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, our Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) team, consisting of three primary programs, enrolled and served 588 individuals with significant barriers to employment,” Grant said.

Throughout the month of September, ESWC offers events for finding new employment, better employment, and even assisting current employers with honing their own skills and finding the right employees for their job openings. Among these featured events is the 2023 Regional Workforce Symposium, taking place at the Aims Community College Welcome Center in Greeley on September 26. The Workforce Symposium is an annual partnership between ESWC and Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development, connecting industry leaders, HR professionals, thought leaders and entrepreneurs to explore cutting-edge strategies and best practices in driving business growth. ESWC will also host a “Recruiting Bootcamp” for employers on September 19. The bootcamp is a fast-paced masterclass on attracting, screening, interviewing and ultimately securing talent in a candidate driven market.
