In recognition of National Nurses month, the Weld County Board of Commissioners read a proclamation during today’s meeting honoring the outstanding team of fourteen nurses employed by the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. The proclamation recognizes the invaluable contributions these dedicated professionals make to the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities throughout the county every day.
“I want to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank-you to our nurses for their tireless efforts and compassionate service. Your healing hands and caring hearts are a true blessing to those you care for.” said Weld County Commissioner Perry Buck. "We greatly appreciate all of you for your unwavering commitment to our health and safety, and we are so proud to honor you during National Nurses Month."
The International Council of Nurses established May 12 as International Nurses Day in 1974 to acknowledge the contributions of nurses and call attention to their working conditions. Now almost 50 years later, this month-long event, sponsored by the American Nurses Association, highlights the largest group of health care professionals, at over 4 million strong. The federal government projects that by 2031 more than 203,000 new registered nurse positions will be created each year.
The proclamation calls on all residents of Weld County to join in recognizing and honoring our nurses and express our deep appreciation and gratitude for the important work they do every day.
