In order to recognize the important part that registered apprenticeships play in providing individuals with valuable skills and pathways to finding sustainable careers in our community, the Board of Weld County Commissioners has proclaimed November 13 to 19 Apprenticeship Week.

Apprenticeships play a pivotal role in ensuring that the workforce remains adaptable and equipped to meet the evolving demands of a rapidly changing economy. Employment Services of Weld County (ESWC) continually works to expand apprenticeship opportunities to those looking for career advancement and greater economic prosperity. Apprenticeship Week is not only a chance to recognize the efforts of ESWC in assisting job seekers with finding these opportunities, but also a time to honor the dedication of apprentices, employers, educators, and training providers who invest in the future by making these opportunities possible.

Deputy Director of Human Services for Weld County, Tami Grant, was on hand to help recognize the ESWC team that assists with finding apprenticeship opportunities locally and spoke about the massive impact that these apprenticeships have in the community. “There are currently over 6,000 active apprentices in Colorado, and 90% of apprentices who complete a registered apprenticeship retain employment with an average annual salary $80,000,” said Grant.

Commissioner Perry Buck also gave strong praise for ESWC and their efforts. “I have to tell you, honestly when I’m out and about in the community I hear about you all regarding the phenomenal job you’re doing, helping folks get these apprenticeships,” said Buck. “I just can’t thank you enough, and it makes me so proud to be a part of Weld County.”

Since National Apprenticeship Week began in 2015, more than 800,000 people nationwide have participated in more than 6,800 apprenticeship events, and more than 1,300 proclamations have been issued in support of Apprenticeship Week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
