Health Department contracts approved by county board

The Weld County Board of Commissioners renewed several health contracts with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), focusing on preventative and early intervention care initiatives, including tobacco education, women’s health screenings, immunization services, and tuberculosis prevention and control.

County programs included in the renewed contracts today include the Tobacco Education and Prevention Program, which helps individuals to make informed decisions about tobacco use while providing support for those who want to quit, and the Women's Wellness Connection Program, which provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings and can assist women with one-on-one health education, provide translation and transportation, arrange dependent care, and assist with appointment scheduling and health insurance enrollment.

Additionally, contracts were approved for the Immunization Core Services program, providing routine immunizations for children and education about communicable diseases, health risk reduction, and vaccine-preventable diseases for Weld County residents as well as program efforts in Tuberculosis prevention and control helping to fund strategies such as education, early detection, treatment, and contact tracing.
