As the county continues to examine and improve its use of office space, a move of two departments will help three departments provide better services for county residents.
For years, the Weld County Department of Planning Services has been co-housed with the county’s Department of Public Health and Environment. With the county’s population growth and increased demand for services from residents, commissioners approved the planning department to move into the building at 1402 N. 17th Ave. The Oil and Gas Energy Department will also move into the same building, creating more convenience for residents and improved customer experiences.
“The move was scheduled to take place last year,” said Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman. “Weather and supply issues, however, delayed the project until now. We are excited to see this project completed, and we hope residents see noticeable benefits from the move.”
Moving the planning department out of its current space will also allow the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment to take advantage of additional space, which will eliminate some of the tight quarters it has been working in for years.
“We are fortunate as a county to have not only departments willing to make moves based on customer needs but also to have the facilities available to occasionally shuffle departments around to accommodate the changing needs of our residents,” said Freeman.
The two departments will begin the moving process March 6 and will be fully operational in the new space March 10; in the meantime, please visit their current separate locations to conduct business.
