Fair Royalty Presents Fair Book to Commissioners

In keeping with tradition, the 2020 fair royalty court presented the Board of Commissioners with the 102nd Weld County Fair Book this week.

“Thank you for your commitment to representing the Weld County Fair. It’s important to the board that the fair continues as scheduled so youth can showcase the projects they’ve worked hard to complete,” said Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman. “I’d also like to thank Pat Kindvall for all the work she’s done in helping make these young ladies successful as their mentor.”

The fair royalty court volunteered at different livestock shows during the National Western Stock Show in January. They also attended the Colorado Association of Fairs and Shows (CAFS) where they learned about leadership and being fair royalty. Although the court has not been able to complete all their intended duties, such as appearing in parades, because of COVID-19, they will be handing out ribbons to youth exhibitors at this year’s fair. All three girls will reign over the Weld County Fair into 2021.

This year, Shelby Tveten of Johnstown was selected as the 2020 queen. Tveten is active in the Calico ’N Jeans 4-H Club as well as the Roosevelt FFA where she serves as chapter Treasurer, showing swine and participating in Restoration and Visual Arts projects in this year’s fair.

Emerson Lobato of Windsor is a member of the Horse Whisperers 4-H Club and has been a member of the Windsor FFA chapter horse judging team. This year, Lobato is joining the 4-H Youth Executive Council and becoming a member of her FFA chapter’s floriculture career development event (CDE).

Ella Niccoli of Greeley was chosen to serve as a second fair attendant this year and participates in animal husbandry, shooting sports and cake decorating. Niccoli is active in the New Horizons 4-H Club.
