Dedication and Commitment Honored at Employee Recognition Event

At the annual Employee Recognition Board Meeting, the Weld County Board of Commissioners, along with department supervisors and a packed board room proudly honored more than 100 employees who’ve contributed nearly 1,400 years of experience in their positions with Weld County Government.

“Getting the opportunity to thank our employees for the work they do every day is one of my favorite parts of being a commissioner,” Commissioner Chair Julie Cozad said. “The commitment and dedication of our employees who work hard every day for our residents is remarkable. Honoring almost 1,400 years of experience speaks to the strong dedication we all have to serve our residents.”

Employees from 15 departments were commended for their professionalism and performance in serving county residents.

For every department recognized, the department supervisor expressed gratitude for a job well done and gave each employee a commemorative pin as appreciation.

Seventy-eight employees were honored for 10 years of outstanding service to Weld County, and 20 employees were honored for 20 years of service. Seven employees were also honored for 30 years of service: Dianne Stieber of Buildings and Grounds, Kris Armstrong and Eva Jewell of the Department of Human Services, Amelia Richards and Leslie Weimers of the Sheriff’s Office, Jill Boshinski of the Planning Department, and Cynthia Loftus of the Weld County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.

Additionally, Mark Ward was presented with a Recognition of Services Award for his work in the Coroner’s Office. Ward began his career in December of 2002 and will be retiring in January. He was commended by the board and coroner Carl Blesch for his constant professionalism and dedication to Weld County.

Buildings and Grounds staff members Butch Gillingham and Terri Mohrlang received the 2017 Individual Safety award for their actions in saving the life of an injured contractor who was in urgent need of medical assistance. Don Potter of the District Attorney’s office was presented with the Individual Wellness and Volunteer Award for successfully organizing this year’s Commissioners Cup 5K event.

“Team Weld is very special,” Commissioner Steve Moreno said. “Our employees continually help Weld County Government exceed expectations, and everyone feels privileged to be part of something special.”
