Kevin Ross, Chair

Commissioner Kevin Ross, a Weld County native, lives with his wife and two daughters in Eaton. Growing up, Kevin worked on his family’s dry land wheat farm in Wyoming. Upon graduation from Eaton High School, Kevin attended the University of Wyoming where he earned a B.S. in Finance along with minors in Decision Sciences and Marketing.

After completing college, Kevin spent several years in the financial sector as a financial advisor. He then started his own insurance agency, which he owned and operated for 17 years. Kevin earned several industry awards, including the National Young Advisor of the Year award. Recently, Kevin has been involved in the Private Equities and Development field and has been in charge of water development projects in northern Colorado.

Kevin has long been active in giving back to the community through volunteer organizations as well as through serving on boards. Kevin served at the local, state and national level of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, acting as President and Government Relations chair.

Kevin served as a Town of Eaton Trustee from 2012-2016 before being elected Mayor in 2016. During those years, he headed many transportation initiatives and served on the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization, where, as Chairman, he represented 13 communities across northern Colorado. 

In 2020, when a seat was vacated on the board of county commissioners, Kevin was selected by the Weld County Council to serve the remainder of that vacated term.

Kevin and his wife, whom he met in college, have been married for 22 years. They have two daughters who both currently attend Eaton High School. Kevin coached football for the Eaton Reds from 2001- 2013 and had the opportunity to coach four athletes who went on to play in the NFL. His wife is a high school teacher and basketball coach. Recreationally, Kevin enjoys wake surfing, camping and fishing.
