The Senior Nutrition Program, also known as the Friendly Fork, provides nutritious and delicious lunches for seniors served at twenty-three sites throughout Weld County. Social and educational opportunities are also available before and after meals. Participants have the opportunity to voluntarily contribute whatever they can afford to help offset the cost of the meal. Our suggested minimum donation is posted at each nutrition site. The Senior Nutrition Program’s meal meets 33 1/3 percent of the daily recommended dietary allowance.
Meals are provided at various locations throughout Weld County.
Participants have the opportunity to contribute towards their meal. The suggested donation is posted at each meal site. Services are not denied to eligible participants who are unable to make a donation. For participant convenience, Friendly Fork meal tickets are available and are offered for a suggested donation. These tickets may be used at any of the Weld County Friendly Fork meal sites.
Reservations and cancellations are required and must be made in advance by 11:00 a.m. the previous business day. See the next panel for site listings and phone numbers for each designated site. Thank you to our volunteers! We could not do it without you. The services our volunteers provide are invaluable. A core of about 300 volunteers contributes more than 20,000 hours annually to keep the Friendly Fork Program going. The impact to the Area Agency on Aging and the Friendly Fork (Senior Nutrition) Program is undeniable. Volunteers provide services that support every aspect of our organization's work from our side coordinators handling our administrative support functions to our kitchen teams setting up, serving and cleaning up for our Senior Nutrition meals and events. It is an amazing effort and we are deeply grateful for it.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us at (970) 400-6132 or visit a Senior Nutrition site near you.
