WeldWAITS

WeldWAITS is an innovative sexual risk avoidance program housed at the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment that offers comprehensive and holistic relationship and sexual health education. It began in 1998 and has evolved into a multi-faceted, medically accurate, culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate initiative. The mission of WeldWAITS is to:

  • Educate teens and parents about the benefits of delayed sexual debut
  • Equip teens and parents with the skills needed to develop healthy relationships
  • Empower teens to strive to reach their fullest potential

School and Community Presentations

Presentations are interactive, relevant, and practical and offer customized education for schools, youth-serving organizations, community groups, and parents.

Counseling

Confidential individualized sexual risk avoidance (SRA) counseling is available to teens.

RESIST

RESIST stands for Radically Empowering Students in Stopping Temptation. High school students are empowered with leadership skills to mentor younger students. Mentoring, character education, skill building, and practical application are used to build positive assets in younger students to prepare them for the challenges of middle school.

Platicas

“Little Chats” are educational opportunities offered to Latino families in their home or a familiar setting. Platicas a culturally relevant and linguistically sensitive to prepare parents to talk to their teenagers.
