Community Advisory Committee

A Community Advisory Committee was created for Weld County residents to provide feedback and improve services.

Health inequity is the difference in access and quality of health services provided, which is a significant factor in a person’s health outcomes. To help address public health inequity and program service delivery in Weld County, the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) created a Community Advisory Committee for the purpose of learning about our residents’ health literacy levels to improve public communications, materials, and services provided through members’ feedback.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group that aims to represent people receiving services at WCDPHE. Members have the ability to give diverse perspectives and feedback for the improvement of their community’s health outcomes. Meetings for this committee will be once every three months for 2 hours in the evening in Greeley, Colorado with a virtual option available for those who cannot attend in person.

If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please click on the CAC Applications tab below and select your preferred language (English or Spanish) to complete a digital application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this committee for?

This committee is to help WCDPHE offer better services by 1) asking residents to share their thoughts and experiences and 2) collecting resident feedback on program materials (such as flyers, handouts on health topics, etc.) created for public use.

Do I need to know a lot about health or public health to be a member?

No. In fact, we DON’T want public health professionals on the Community Advisory Committee. We want community members who don’t know everything about medicine, public health, or healthcare to join so we can understand their experience from a new perspective.

When and where are the meetings, and how often to they happen?

Meetings will be scheduled after 4:30pm once every 3 months at the LINC Library in Greeley, CO. Meetings will not last more than two hours and the exact dates and times will be determined by member availability.

What is in it for me to join?

Joining is a great way you may provide feedback on services and help us provide better services for the entire Weld community. Additionally, we offer occasional gift cards in addition to dinner for your time and expertise.

Will childcare be provided?

Sorry, we do not offer childcare. However, our location for meetings (LINC Library in Greeley, CO) has resources and spaces for children! Please visit the LINC Library website for more information.

What if I can’t drive to Greeley for each meeting?

No problem! We also offer a virtual option through Zoom, which will be managed by WCDPHE staff, so you won’t miss a thing. Zoom access will only be provided for members and not the general public.

Do we get to change things ourselves?

The CAC is not a governing body. Rather, Advisory Committee members will provide feedback to inform us on how we are doing with the services and programs we provide. WCDPHE will then have this information to help us decide if and how to make changes.
