Educational Seminars

Seminar #1:

DHI 101, 12:30 p.m., 4-H Rm. 4. This seminar will be presented by Karen Butler, supervisor, and manager of the Meadowlark Testing Association. MTA provides all aspects of testing services for herds in Colorado, Kansas, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. She will cover basic information and definitions associated with the Dairy Herd Improvement program. Beginning with WHY you would want to test your herd. WHAT are the benefits from testing. HOW to begin participating. WHERE information is available. And WHEN is a good time to begin educating yourself.

Seminar #2:

Keeping the Herd Healthy: Select Infectious Diseases of Show Goats, 1:30 p.m., 4-H Rm #4. This presentation is presented by Kelly Still Brooks, DVM MPH DACVPM DABVP-Food Animal from the CSU Tet Teaching Hospital. She will cover how to keep your goat herd healthy by discussing certain infectious diseases: CL, CAE, Johne’s and Pneumonia that may occur in show goats.

Dinner Social

Dinner Social tickets will be $5.00 person this year, it will be Saturday, April 27th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Come enjoy the food and camaraderie with other goat enthusiasts!

Vendors

Individuals and businesses will be exhibiting goat-related items, services, and products during the Extravaganza.  Plan to spend time visiting the vendor area in the 4-H Building.

Anyone interested in having a vendor space should see the Vendor form on the website. Vendor space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The cost for a single vendor space in 4-H building (approx. 10'x10') is $85.  If you have any questions, call Larry Hooker at (970) 400-2093

Goat Directory

Here’s a great opportunity to promote your business. Rates for ads are: $20 business card; $45 ½ page; and $75 full page. Goat Directory Advertisement form is available on the website. Business card or ad must be included with the Goat Directory Advertisement form, in digital form. Payment should be included with your WCGE Advertisement form. All advertisement forms must be turned in by April 7, 2023 in order to get into the directory.

Award Sponsorship

For $35 you can sponsor one of the Champion awards being given at the WCGE. Sponsorships are on a first-come basis. Email Aaron Helus at ahelus13@yahoo.com for information on sponsorships. Payment should be included with your Extravaganza Entry form and entered on the spot provided.

Bedding

Wood shavings or straw may be used as bedding. The Briggsdale 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus will have shavings for sale on site.
